Dame Kelly Holmes won gold medals for both the 800m and 1500m at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and was named BBC Sports Personality of the Year. She retired from athletics in 2005 and was made a Dame, finishing her athletic career with twelve major championship medals from the Olympics, Worlds, Europeans and Commonwealth Games.
